Working within the boundaries of the established Bylaws of Saints Peter and Paul Orthodox Church, and under the spiritual guidance of Fr. James Parsells, the Youth Group (YG) has developed a renewed sense of focus and purpose, since it re-inception into regular parish life in the spring of 1998. While maintaining its presence within the parish, the YG has broadened its horizons. Desiring to live, teach, and perpetuate the teachings of the Eastern Orthodox Church, the YG has taken upon itself to open its doors to the Orthodox youth from all "jurisdictions" in our area and provide a witness to the Faith for our families and friends. While continuing its tradition as a social organization, the YG has also insisted upon an active role in charity and service. We are currently involved in the annual IOCC "Souper Bowl Sunday," which collects needed funds to help the IOCC feed the hungry in the US and Abroad, while the canned goods collected benefits the local food pantry. Other charities that have benefited from our group include the OCMC and Great Expectations, a local charity that provides a safe haven for unwed mothers. The YG is committed to our community, our parish, our local Church, but just as important, we are committed to each other.
